2017 Wall of Fame Inductee

DeCabooterOn Friday, September 22, Dr. Arthur W. DeCabooter will be inducted into the Black Hawk College East Foundation Wall of Fame in a ceremony at the college’s East Campus .

The Wall of Fame represents individuals and organizations that have made Black Hawk College East Campus the quality higher education institution it is today.

Former Black Hawk College East Campus vice president Dr. Arthur ("Art") Decabooter will be honored for his leadership during the 1970s in creating the permanent Black Hawk College East campus between Kewanee and Galva and for initiating the highly regarded Horse Sciences as well as Ag and Auto Mechanics programs. BHC Agri-Business Club Alumni Golf Outing

EVENT RESCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 30.
Join us on Saturday, September 30 for the Agri-Business Club Alumni third annual a golf outing at Kewanee Dunes Golf course. The event is a great way to celebrate Black Hawk Aggie memories—and to create new ones. The event features 50-50 drawings, hole prizes, and giveaways for golfers of all skill levels.

The mission of the Agri-Business Club Alumni Board is to complement their annual Alumni banquet (to be held on January 27, 2018) by bringing our Alumni together and help grow the current Ag Program, students and faculty. Contributions have been able to help and assist all of the different curriculums, especially for students in the agriculture department. With your help, the Alumni have been able to continue to develop scholarships that allows more students to reach their academic goals.

The 2017 Livestock Judging Alumni Reunion
was held in April

Black Hawk College East Campus celebrated its 50th year, with the livestock judging program being a part of the past 48 years. Alumni from 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007 and 2017 teams were recognized. Alumni to catch up with your coaches and teammates while meeting the next generation of BHE judges. In addition, the Livestock Judging Alumni honored Lee Denzer who retired December 2016.

Agri-Business Club Alumni Events

Agri-Business Club Alumni Banquet & Meeting

The Agri-Business Club Alumni (ABCA) will hold its annual banquet on Saturday, January 28, 2017 to recognize and induct outstanding alumni into the ABCA Hall of Fame, elect new officers and members to its board of directors, and to raise funds for Black Hawk College Agriculture programs at the East Campus. In 2015, the banquet raised $10,165 for the benefit of the Black Hawk College East Campus Agriculture program. Donations made over the past year included grants and scholarships of $5,400 for Ag Ambassador Shirts ($300); Meals for the Fall Work Experience Banquet ($900); NACTA Tabulation Equipment ($1500); Spring Ag Recognition Banquet awards and expenses ($2,200) and the establishment of the first Future Alumnus Award Scholarship ($500), which was awarded to Savannah Speckhart. Funds for these and other programs were made available through proceeds raised at the ABCA annual banquets.

 

 

Scholarship Recognition Banquet

The Black Hawk College East Foundation sponsors a Scholarship Recognition Banquet annually in the fall to recognize the generosity of its scholarship benefactors and award recipients. One benefactor is asked to speak each year about their decision to establish a scholarship fund and the impact of their generosity on the students attending the East Campus. The award recipients are also invited to say a few words about how the scholarship has helped provide access to higher education and enhanced their lives.

 

 

2015 NACTA Judging Conference

The Black Hawk College East Foundation assisted the BHC Ag Faculty in raising $112,350 for the 2015 NACTA Judging Conference hosted by Black Hawk College in April 2015 at the iWireless Center in Moline, Illinois. More than 800 collegiate students representing 51 two-and four-year colleges and universities across the United States, and more than 300 students from local 4-H and FFA chapters participated in agricultural judging contests and seminars, career and networking fair, and tours of John Deere facilities during the three-day event.
